Choosing The Best Home Alarm Monitoring Company

Friday, July 8th, 2011

There are dozens of alarm monitoring companies out there to choose from. Having an alarm system has become very commonplace, because it is a very smart thing to do. Offering yourself an added measure of protection is important in every instance. Once you have decided to install an alarm system, you face the major decision of choosing a company to work with.

As with any decision about a service being provided, the first place you should look for help in making your decision is to people you trust. Begin with your family and friends, relatives, neighbors, and acquaintances. Search out the people you know who have an alarm monitoring company working for them, keeping them safe. Talk to as many people as you can to determine how they feel about their alarm monitoring. Are they happy with the product, and are they happy with the service that accompanies the product? Have they had any issues, or do they present any concerns about their alarm monitoring?

Once you have talked to enough people, you will have a pretty comprehensive list of alarm monitoring companies. The next thing to do is to go through the list and weed out the good from the bad. If any of your friends and family were unhappy with their alarm monitoring, cross that company right off your list. Narrow your list down to the top 3 or 4 alarm companies recommended by your friends. After you have reached this point, it is time to do your own homework. Start calling around to the best liked companies on your list and find out some important information.

When choosing an alarm monitoring company, there are a few qualifications to look for. Find out if they offer non-stop protection, every hour of the day. Find out what kind of training their staff is required to have. Make sure they have a back up system in place in case of a power outage or computer crash. Also verify that the alarm company is registered with the appropriate fire alarm and burglar associations.

After contacting and reviewing the information on the top alarm monitoring companies on your list it will be easy to make a decision. Consider price, installation time, and monthly maintenance in choosing an alarm company. Make sure you find a company that has every product you are looking for. You should have a pretty clear picture of what you want included with your system by talking to your friends and family about their systems. Choosing an alarm monitoring company can be time consuming, but an important decision such as this should be made properly.

Why You Should Buy Security Systems With Alarm Companies

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Some people who purchase alarm systems neglect doing so through alarm companies and take the DIY route. However, doing this can cause the customer to miss out on some crucial benefits that alarm dealers can offer. Purchasing an alarm system through a reputable retailer can help your security system reach its potential.

One way the alarm system’s potential is achieved is through the expertise that alarm companies possess. The employees at alarm dealers live and breathe home security, and they are the ones who can make sure customers receive the most bang for the buck. If a customer has a limited budget, that’s no problem. For the customers who want the most comprehensive security system on the market, alarm dealers can handle those cases as well. No matter what a consumer is looking for, alarm professionals have intimate knowledge about the subject and which alarm works best with the customer’ needs.

This knowledge carries over into installation, which is another perk offered by alarm companies. Some companies will even install the system for free, but professional installation is a worthwhile fee if there is indeed a service charge. Having an alarm professional in your home to analyze where to put circuits, motion detectors and cameras allows you to enjoy an alarm system that is both correctly installed and logically positioned. The knowledge possessed by alarm company employees trumps nearly any customers? and they are at the service of the consumer to make sure the alarm system is both correctly selected and perfectly installed.

Many alarm companies continue their service after the system is installed. Alarm dealers usually have a service department that can fix any problems a customer may be having with the alarm system. Warranties are also common, and some of them last a lifetime. Upgrades are also made easier through alarm companies because the customer can select a product that works seamlessly with the current security system in place.

Consumers have to option to tackle alarm projects by themselves, but the potential for error is much higher than using an alarm dealer. When it comes to home security, a customer doesn’t want to make a wrong turn in the selection, installation, or repair of an alarm system because it will sacrifice the safety of the home. Purchasing through an alarm dealer will minimize the chance of any of these risks and better protect your home against any threats. A good alarm company is not hard to find ?customers can look over reviews and testimonials, or just go door-to-door to a couple companies to see what fits. In the end, most customers are happy they went through an alarm dealer for their purchase.

Greater Protection. Complete Security. With Wireless Remotes

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

In a continually advancing wireless world, electronic users demand more and more remote features to help with everyday tasks. Wireless key fobs can add value and simplicity to any security system. Wireless remotes allow management control of their home alarm systems, as well as portable personal protection directly at their fingertips. Users can arm and disarm the system easily as they approach their house or, through the panic button, call for help from anywhere close by, or inside the house.

Full wireless operation has two requirements: a radio transmitter to send signals, and a wireless receiver to collect those signals, interpret them, and internally relay them to the alarm system control panel. Your wireless alarm setup will include either a stand-alone receiver or a receiver built into a keypad.

For the most part, a LED found between or on the buttons will light up, indicating a signal has been sent to the control panel receiver. Some even include displays with updated responses from the control panel. A typical function of key fobs is ‘Away Arming’, by which both the interior and exterior zones will be armed, allowing you to exit the premises. Another feature is ‘Disarm’, which allows the user to disarm the system without entering an access code. The ‘Panic’ function usually must be pressed for three seconds for it to notify the central monitoring station of a situation requiring the police. Obviously you will need a monitored account already activated for this function to work.

Newer models enable communication from the key fob to the panel and vice-versa. These newer options, featuring icon displays and built-in buzzers, have both visual and audible indications of the system’s status. Most wireless key fobs have more than just one function, and normally consist of 3 functions, a panic remote that can be used to arm and disarm, as well as a variety of other remote functions. Wireless key remotes like the new DSC WT4989 have up to five buttons, a system status button, as well as four additional programmable buttons with six available function choices. Programming for some additional functions can include door openers for the garage, indoor/outdoor light operation, or powered gate access. The only requirement is that the key is within the range of the wireless receiver or else signals will not be received.

Some newer key fobs include backlit icon displays, and built-in buzzers for audible feedback. Currently, the most popular common features are three years of battery life and LED flashlights. For false alarm reduction, there is usually a full 3-second delay on panic functions. Check with your alarm dealer to add wireless key fobs to your systems, or to get them included directly in your new home security package. Key fobs can bring peace to the home and allow the user to arm/disarm the system with the touch of a button.

Investors Flocking to Home Security System

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Just about anywhere you looking in the early 21st century you could see reality TV shows that would sing the praises of reinstate investing, particularly flipping houses.  Many people found themselves trying go after the American dream in what has become apart of a modern day gold rush.  And just like the 18th century gold rush some would come away with loaded pockets but many lost everything chasing a dream.

Today in most US cities the housing market is slowly making a come back.  And for the investors who are still around after the burst of the housing bubble they are forced to find much more creative ways to get a decent return on investment (ROI).

One of the trends of the recent housing rush was investor’s who would find small distressed properties and invest a small amount of money into esthetics; this was the lipstick on a pig strategy that many investors found great success with at the early part of the century.

Today the investors who are making the most money are those who are taking advantage of two current opportunities; 1. Foreclosures 2. First time homeowner incentives.  Many of the high ROI opportunities are now available with more expensive homes that are selling off at a vastly reduced rate due to forecloses and to get the best return it takes more than a little lipstick.  Many investors have found that adding in smart home and other technology features has been the way to peak the interest of the younger first time homeowners.

Many residential service technology companies have begun to reap the benefits of such trends.  Companies providing smart home technology, multimedia services, security alarm services, and other such companies have began to see a small spike in business due to this younger generation of homeowners that are now starting to hit the market.

Top 5 Security system add-ons

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

There are many options to increase your existing security system’s strength. Here are five pieces of equipment that will give you extra security and help protect your family.

1) Cellular Module- A cellular module or cell unit allows your security system to communicate with the monitoring center without the need of a landline. This is important because if your phones go down or if someone cuts your phone line your security system is still able to communicate with the monitoring station.

2) Extra Kp- Most basic systems only have one keypad. Adding an extra keypad at a second door, like a garage entry or back door, allows you to set or disarm your system or use a panic button at a second point in your house.

3) Monitored Smoke Unit/Smoke detectors- A smoke detector hooked to your alarm system picks up rapid changes in temperature. If it notices a sudden change, it contacts the monitoring station, which in turn dispatches the fire and medical departments.

4) Key Fob Remotes/Keychain Remotes- These can give you the convenience of arming and disarming your alarm with the push of a button on your key chain. It also gives you peace of mind knowing you have only one button to push to active the panic feature of your alarm.

5) Extended Warranty- Many companies offer a free warranty for a certain number of days to cover the installation of your equipment, and to assure the customer that their equipment is functioning properly. Just like any other electric device, security systems can break or quit working for many reasons. If a company offers an extended warranty, many times the warranty will pay for itself, since services and the latest alarm equipment can be costly to repair or replace.
